Start, LA Drawing

At the beginning of the 20th Century, the community known as Start did not have a name. In 1908, Charles Titsch marked out a town plat and called it Charleston. After the Postal Service rejected several names for the new town, the new postmaster, Rachel Morgan, finally concluded that the name Start should be submitted because they were making a new start. In 1918, the U.S. Postal Service accepted Start as the official name of the community. Country music singer and actor, Tim McGraw, grew up in Start, LA.To purchase one of the Start prints pictured above, click here: http://www.villageprints.com/drawings/louisiana/start-la.
